Howdy,
Flash & I play in a small , what I guess you could call a Poker Club. Once a month or so around 50 of us get together & play a tourny type game. It's a $20 buy in, with 1 rebuy & it pays out the top 3 spots. The pots can look pretty nice if it's a big group & half of the field rebuys. afro
Well last night we played . Great group of people all ages, genders, colors; and occasionally a new person or two will join us. For any of you have ever played live or have a home game you may be able to relate to this. I SWEAR some people will call with ANYTHING.
Like I said this is a great group & many of them are quite the sharks. But geeze, and I hate to say this gang, but sometimes these pepole must be brain dead. I've seen people online call with any 2 cards & hit, time after time: but I really never expected it in a live game. But believe me it happens, geeze. And believe me it can hurt then some "person" that likes to play 7 4 os hits their straight on the river. scratch
Now you might think playing 7 4 os, ok limp in. That was not the case. I was utg and bet 5 times the bb. All folded except the bb, they called. Well ok, hmmm wonder what he has that's so good he calls me but let's see a flop. I guess I should tell u I had KQd. I still hate to think what happened. I flopped top pair & bet the size of the pot, he calls, with out batting an eye. Darn. scratch
What could he have, AK? The flop was Kh 5d 3d. I have top pair & four to the flush so ok, lets see the turn. The turn was a Qs. Sweet flop for me, now I have 2 pr & four to the flush. I bet the size of the pot, quite a big bet I thought. Again I get a call. Grrrrr, why is this guy still callin me, bigger flush draw, hmmm. scratch
The flop was a 6c. Phew no flush, my 2pr have this. HE goes all in. affraid
I look at the board thinking ok what just happened, I seriously thought he may be trying to be bluff me off the pot. I saw that very unlikely straight draw out there & thought to myself...no idiot would call those huge bet with an inside srtaght draw. I call. Boy was I wrong. This "person" did just that. Grrrrrrrr. Embarassed No Embarassed No
7 4 offsuit come on, grrrrrrr.
Don't ya' just hate poker. lol!

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Thats a tough one, my thinking takes me two places
1) He has the flush draw
2) He hit a small set on the flop
Like you said you see the "silly straight" but can't put him on that. All you can do is thank him for trying to lose and laugh it off.
Had a similar situation in a WSOP Circuit event at Caesars in AC, had this junk playing guy who made a few hands and was healthy, this only encouraged him to do it more.
My big hand with him involved him having to have 6-8 for a straight, when he put me all-in on river I dumped my two pair, only reason I was able to fold is that it was still pretty early in game and a $560 buy-in can make you fold when blinds are 100 Laughing Junk playing chasers scare me the most, would rather sit across from Hellmuth and Ivey.

Dang M,

I think this play is getting more prevalant in todays games. Seems with a lot of players they want to "gamble" no matter what the odds.

I'd enjoy playing in a home game. Will have to look into this more I think. I know you both enjoy it and look forward to it when day arrives. So next time, make sure you get him back for his loose play and kick his butt Twisted Evil

Boy, I came in here to post my 1st tourny and started reading this section. I cant believe I missed it oops affraid

Some very interesting reads. flower
