Here we were, my son and I, happened to arrive back from a good day at the races NZ Cup Day (only day I go LOL) to the casino and what did I find? A poker tourny about to start. Well, its about time I tried a live game. $65 with $50 rebuy $2000 starting stack. hhmmmm why not!!!!!! I signed up and told Matt if he wants to play to get his butt in there as game starts in 5 mins oops!!!! Well having $5 each way on a horse paying $39 with initials MM which won, we both decided to play

Oh boy, 1st hr I started thinking why am I here gggrrrrrr didn't get 1 hand to play but I decided after watching some of the plays, this was going to be a donkey race 1st hr so I sat back and patiantly watched as players went all in on marginal hands. 1 guy winning chips calling with rubbish hands and rivering many. 5 mins to break I re buy then at break I take the add on. Having only played my blinds I was looking ok but blinds at $100/$200 at 1st break. Matt was looking good at 1st break so didn't bother to take add on. (He was also a bit pickled from our day at races, tehehe) 5 players gone at break in the 32 field now at 3 tables.

2nd hr wasn't much better for me and thought I was gonna be out soon. Down to $700 in chips had to start push with a measly 77 with 2 callers in ......yesssssss finally in and won the pot. Another push ......aarrhhhh finally getting cards. My patience was paying dues and now down to 2 tables but low stacked all the way and again thinking will I make it. But I did and had to push a few times with chip leader now at my table. In fact couldnt ask for better seat as he was to my right. Managed to hang in and let others knock each other out.

Wahoooo!!!!!! Final table.........now had to pick seats........was lucky didnt have to move nor did big stack.........this was how I wanted it. Card to deal starting FT yesssss I got the button. Matt making FT was awesome to see as was his 1st time tourny as well with a comfortable stack and with me low stacked all thru sitting with 2 x bb $4k lol. With big stack beside me pushing all in I waited my chances and it finally came with KK he pushed I went all in and collected. 6 times he pushed I called ........he couldnt believe it LOL nor could I for that matter tehehe!!!!! My chips were now growing. I sat patiantly as others made their move now down to 5 pays 4.

1 guy asks we make deal and agree to pay each $50 to 5th player, done. Big stack pushing every hand all in but time to start when down to 4. But he keeps pushing finally 3 players left Big stack, me and yessssss my son, Matt (he can hardly see his cards LOL) here we both thinking he trying to hold his own and not get kicked out Oops too much fun and drink tehehe!!!!!

Big stack took him out and with me and him HU was a good crowd watching and we both fold or all in. But with chip stack at evens about $100k each we both called all in my Q 10c to his A7 flop comes KKJ turn 3 come on river ...............dang a nothing he takes it down with A hi card.

Was fun and not once did I give up being low stacked right thru the game. I won $1500 but was so proud to see my Matt come in 3rd winning $1000. Was a great Cup day for us.

WTG Marg and Matt Sounds like you guys had a great day. Not the least bit surprised at the results, your a little grinder and your prize pupil is learning from his cool mom. Congrats (can I borrow $500, can't say you don't have it )

And like most poker tournys there was only 3 females playing so I was chuffed. Also being low stacked thru out was a lot of chatter around of a nice take down and a few surprised looks. tehehe

I have played some cash games with a few of these guys but don't consider myself much of a cash player, altho I made a nice hit 1 night but tournys I really enjoy and hope they have more. Thats why I enjoy playing on line. Always a tourny going on some where

Now seeing as this was a nice win I'm going to put a $5 bounty on Murry's head and mine for the game on Friday 14th Nov

I love reading about other "normal folks" & their poker tails. Especially when they end the way yours did!
